メトロという言葉が地下鉄という意味で用いられたのは、このパリからです。1900年のパリ万博に合わせて開業し、ほとんどの路線は1930年までに整備されました。運営はRATPが行っています。路線は14の本線と2つの支線から成ります。車両はMPから始まるゴムタイヤ式のものと。MFから始まる鉄車輪式のものがあります。MP, MFの後の数字は、登場年度にほぼ対応しています。例えばMP59は1959年前後に登場したゴムタイヤ式の車両です。
The term 'Metro' is originated from Paris. The first line opened in 1900, when the EXPO is held. Since most of the lines were developed before 1930, stations and tunnel interior are historically interesting. Some lines are rubber-tire operation, and others are normal steal tire operation. While MP59, MP73 and MP89 are used in the former, MF67, MF77, MF88 and MF2001 are used in the latter.
