Jubilee Line (ジュビリー線)は、ロンドンで最も新しい地下鉄です。最初の区間は1979年に開業し、1990年代後半に港湾再開発地区のDocklands(ドックランズ)に延伸されました。延伸区間はイギリス唯一のホームドアを備え、超高層ビル街にふさわしいモダンな建築になっています。同じ現代風デザインでも、パリメトロの14号線とはずいぶん雰囲気が異なります。パリの方は暖かみを感じさせるのに対し、ロンドンはクールな機能美を感じます。このイメージは古い路線においても共通している気がします。
The Jubilee Line is London's newest underground railway. Its first section opened in 1979, and it was extended to the Docklands redevelopment area in the late 1990s. The extension has Britain's only platform doors and modern architecture suited to the skyscraper district. Although both use contemporary design, its atmosphere differs greatly from Paris Métro Line 14: Paris conveys warmth, whereas London has a cool, functional beauty. I feel this contrast also applies to the older lines.
