London Underground's C69 and later C77 trains served the Circle and Hammersmith & City Lines and part of the District Line. Introduced in 1970 and 1977 respectively, they formed six-car trains from three motor-and-trailer pairs. Four double doorways on each side of every car supported heavy commuter flows, and refurbishment introduced longitudinal seating to increase standing space; replacement by S-series trains ended passenger operation in 2014.
