DB Class 642 is a two-car Siemens Desiro Classic diesel train introduced into passenger service in 2000. Its two bodies share a central bogie, with low-floor sections, wide entrances and a diesel engine in each car. With a maximum speed of 120 km/h, it has served unelectrified regional routes around Dresden, in Bavaria and elsewhere.
