りんかい線70-000形は、1996年の新木場―東京テレポート間開業時に4両編成で登場しました。2002年の大崎延伸に合わせて10両編成も導入され、JR埼京線への直通に使われるようになり、2004年から残る短編成も10両に組み替えられました。
Rinkai Line Series 70-000 began as four-car trains when the Shin-Kiba–Tokyo Teleport section opened in 1996. Ten-car sets were introduced for the extension to Osaki in 2002 and JR Saikyo Line through services, with the remaining shorter sets reformed into ten-car trains from 2004.
