The Saikyo Line opened in 1985, running alongside the Tohoku Shinkansen. The name usually includes the Yamanote freight Line (Osaki to Ikebukuro) and the Akabane Line (Ikebukuro to Akabane). Series 205 trains were used, including two cars with six doors per side. Some were converted from the Yamanote Line.
