埼京線は東北新幹線に並走する路線として1985年に開業しました。その名称には通常、山手貨物線（大崎―池袋）と赤羽線（池袋―赤羽）も含まれます。片側6扉の車両を2両含む205系が使われました。一部は山手線から転用された車両です。
The Saikyo Line opened in 1985, running alongside the Tohoku Shinkansen. The name usually includes the Yamanote freight Line (Osaki to Ikebukuro) and the Akabane Line (Ikebukuro to Akabane). Series 205 trains were used, including two cars with six doors per side. Some were converted from the Yamanote Line.
