209系500番台は、全車が中央・総武緩行線に投入されましたが、その後一部が京浜東北線に移籍し、さらに2008年には京葉線でも用いられるようになりました。京葉線ではピンク色の帯を締め、10連貫通編成が普通・快速として使用されています。一部は蘇我以遠にも直通します。
All Series 209-500 cars were initially assigned to Chuo-Sobu local services, but some later moved to the Keihin-Tohoku Line and began working on the Keiyo Line in 2008. On the Keiyo Line they carry pink stripes and are used as ten-car through formations on local and rapid services. Some also run beyond Soga.
