700系は300系と同程度の性能ですが、乗り心地が向上しています。ダブルスキン構造のアルミ製車体が客室を騒音から守り、車両間のダンパーがピッチングとヨーイングを抑えます。2010年には東海道・山陽新幹線の主力で、「のぞみ」「ひかり」「こだま」に使われていました。
Series 700 has similar performance to Series 300, but offers a more comfortable ride. The double-skin aluminum body shelters the cabin from noise, and inter-car dampers reduce pitching and yawing. In 2010, the series was the mainstay of the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen, serving as Nozomi, Hikari, and Kodama.
