400系は1992年、山形新幹線「つばさ」用に設計されました。車体の寸法はJRの在来線車両と同じですが、240 km/hで走ることができます。後にE3系がその役割を引き継ぎ、400系は全車が引退しました。E926形はJR東日本の新幹線の線路を検査する試験車両です。
Series 400 was designed for the Yamagata Shinkansen Tsubasa service in 1992. Although the body dimensions are the same as conventional JR trains, it can run at 240 km/h. Series E3 later took over the role, and all Series 400 trains have been withdrawn. E926 is a test train that inspects Shinkansen tracks in the JR East network.
