Amsterdam's S3 and M4 were two-section articulated trains delivered by CAF in 1996–1997 for the Ring Line. They used third-rail power, with the S3 also equipped for overhead supply on the former Amstelveen sneltram service. The M5 is a separate Alstom generation introduced in 2013: its approximately 116 m, six-car trainsets offer a fully walk-through interior and air conditioning, rather than sharing the shorter CAF vehicles' configuration.
