Metro in Amsterdam mainly runs overground. Some trains run through tram Line as 'sneltram' (rapid tram). While vehicles equipped with folding steps and pantagraphs can be used as sneltram, others are dedicated to the metro services. M1-M3 is the first metro rolling stocks in Amsterdam with a wide body. They cannot run Sneltram lines, but their occupancy is more than that of other vehicle types.
