アムステルダムの交通において、地下鉄(メトロ)はやや影が薄いです。地下区間は駅周辺の数駅間だけで、その他の区間では高架線上を走行します。快速トラム(シュネルトラム)は、地下鉄に直通し、地上では道路中央を走行します。快速トラム上では踏切があるので、コレクターシューをたたんでパンタグラフを上げ、架線集電を行います。
Amsterdam's public transport network includes trams, metro, and the sneltram (fast tram). The metro runs underground in the city center while surface lines use elevated sections in the suburbs. The sneltram connects to the metro and also runs elevated.
