S1・S2は、ベルギーのBNがアムステルダムとアムステルフェーンを結ぶ快速トラム用に製造した電車で、S1は1990年、増備のS2は1993～1994年に納入されました。地下鉄区間では直流750 Vの第三軌条、路面電車区間では直流600 Vの架線を使い、ズイド駅で集電方式を切り替える特殊な設計でした。2019年にアムステルフェーンへの直通が終了した後は地下鉄線内で使われ、最後の車両は2024年に退役しました。
Amsterdam's S1 and S2 were built by Belgium's BN for the hybrid metro–sneltram route to Amstelveen, with S1 introduced in 1990 and S2 delivered in 1993–1994. At Zuid, the trains changed between 750 V DC third-rail power on the metro and 600 V DC overhead supply on the tram section. After through services to Amstelveen ended in 2019, they continued on metro routes before final withdrawal in 2024.
