桜通線は、東山線の補完と緑区方面の交通網充実のため、1989年に開業しました。全列車が6000系で運転されます。6000系は、名古屋市交初のオールステンレス車体・VVVFインバータ制御を採用し、その後の2000系・3050系などの基本となりました。野並延伸時の増備車は、連結面に窓があるのが特徴です。100両が在籍します。
The Sakuradori Line opened in 1989 to supplement the Higashiyama Line and improve transport links toward Midori Ward. All trains are operated with Series 6000. Series 6000 was the first Nagoya Municipal Subway type to adopt an all-stainless-steel body and VVVF inverter control, forming the basis for subsequent types such as Series 2000 and 3050. Cars added for the extension to Nonami have distinctive windows at their inter-car ends. The fleet comprises 100 cars.
