1992年から製造された5050系は、250形・300形などの旧型非冷房車を置き換えました。名城線2000系を基にしていますが、前面のデザインと黄色い帯は5000系から受け継いでいます。計162両が製造され、東山線の主力となりました。
Series 5050, built from 1992, replaced older non-air-conditioned trains such as Series 250 and 300. It is based on Series 2000 of the Meijo Line, but the front design and yellow stripe is inherited from Series 5000. A total of 162 cars were built, making it the main fleet on the Higashiyama Line.
