5000系は136両が製造された、西鉄で最大の車両グループです。通勤輸送を強化するため、1975年に導入されました。それ以前の600形と700形を基に、運転士側の前面窓に曲面ガラスを採用しています。主に普通列車に使われています。
Series 5000 is the largest group in the Nishitetsu fleet, with 136 cars built. The series was introduced in 1975 to strengthen commuter services. Based on the earlier Series 600 and 700, Series 5000 adopted a curved windshield on the driver's side. The trains are mainly used on local services.
