京阪8000系は1989年の鴨東線開業に合わせて登場した特急車です。アルミ車体と2扉・クロスシートの車内を持ち、1997～1998年にはダブルデッカーが増結されました。淀屋橋と出町柳を結ぶ特急に使われ、2017年には6号車を改造した有料座席のプレミアムカーが営業を始めました。
Keihan Series 8000 was introduced in 1989 for the opening of the Oto Line. Aluminium bodies, two doors per side and transverse seating were followed by double-deck coaches added in 1997–1998. It worked limited expresses between Yodoyabashi and Demachiyanagi, with a rebuilt sixth car entering paid-seat Premium Car service in 2017.
