京阪7000系は1989年の鴨東線開業に合わせて登場した通勤電車です。6000系を基にVVVFインバータ制御を本格採用し、アルミ車体と大きな前面貫通扉を受け継ぎました。当初の4両・6両編成は後に7両化され、京阪本線の列車に使われました。
Keihan Series 7000 was introduced in 1989 for the opening of the Oto Line. Based on Series 6000, it adopted VVVF inverter control while retaining aluminium bodies and a large front gangway door. The initial four- and six-car formations were later lengthened to seven cars for Main Line services.
