京阪6000系は1983年に登場し、同年の1,500 V昇圧に合わせて本格的に投入されました。アルミ車体と大型の前面貫通扉が特徴で、従来の卵形車体から外観を大きく変えました。当初の4両編成から増結され、京阪本線の通勤輸送を担いました。
Keihan Series 6000 was introduced in 1983 and expanded into full Main Line use for the voltage increase to 1,500 V that year. Aluminium bodies and a large front gangway door marked a major departure from the earlier egg-shaped designs. The initial four-car formations were lengthened for commuter services.
