京阪5000系は1970年に登場した、片側5扉のアルミ車体の通勤電車です。ラッシュ時には5扉を使い、閑散時には一部の扉を締め切って天井から座席を降ろす仕組みが特徴でした。京阪本線の混雑緩和に使われた独特の系列で、2021年に営業運転を終えました。
Keihan Series 5000 was introduced in 1970 with aluminium bodies and five doors per side. All five doors were used at busy times, while two could be closed and seats lowered from the ceiling during quieter periods. This unusual design relieved Main Line crowding and ended passenger service in 2021.
