京阪2400系は1969年に登場し、1970年までに7両編成6本が製造されました。2200系を基に新製冷房車とした系列で、関西の通勤車として早い時期に冷房を採用しました。3扉の鋼製車体を持ち、京阪本線の急行から普通までの輸送に使われました。
Keihan Series 2400 was introduced in 1969, with six seven-car trainsets built by 1970. Based on Series 2200, it introduced factory-fitted air conditioning to Keihan's commuter fleet at an early date for Kansai. Its three-door steel-bodied cars worked Main Line services ranging from expresses to locals.
