神戸新交通8000型は1980年に開業用車両が製造され、1981年2月のポートライナー開業から営業運転を始めました。小型のアルミ車体を持つゴムタイヤ式車両で、6両編成が三宮とポートアイランドを結びました。2000型への置換えが進み、2009年に運用を終えました。
Kobe New Transit Series 8000 was built in 1980 for the Port Liner and entered passenger service when the line opened in February 1981. Small aluminium-bodied, rubber-tyred cars formed six-car trains between Sannomiya and Port Island. Replacement by Series 2000 followed, with operation ending in 2009.
