信越地区で運用されていた直流電車の記録です。115系は1963年登場の近郊形で、勾配路線向けに抑速ブレーキを装備しています。長野色・新潟色など地域独自の塗装が施されていました。1997年の長野新幹線開業前後の撮影で、横川〜軽井沢間の碓氷峠越え運用も含まれます。
DC EMUs operated in the Shinetsu region. Series 115 (from 1963) featured dynamic braking for mountain routes and wore distinctive regional liveries (Nagano/Niigata colors). Photographed around 1997-1998, around the time of the Nagano Shinkansen opening, including Usui Pass operations between Yokokawa and Karuizawa.
