A diesel-train journey of about thirty minutes from Zittau in Germany takes you to Liberec, a town in the Czech Republic. Czech manufacturers, including Tatra, supplied railway vehicles for Eastern Europe, and many vehicles are still domestically built. The lines around Liberec are unelectrified, with two-axle railbuses and diesel railcars hauling trailers. The main diesel type of Czech Railways (CD) is the Class 810 railbus, which hauls trailers or is incorporated into rebuilt units with low-floor trailers. Bogie-equipped Class 854 and Class 843 diesel railcars could also be seen.
