Sm5 is a four-car commuter train based on Stadler's FLIRT design, introduced into Helsinki-area passenger service in 2009. Its largely low-floor, walk-through interior is complemented by thicker insulation, ventilation heat recovery and entrance heaters designed for Finnish winters. Owned by the metropolitan rolling-stock company Junakalusto, the trains serve the Helsinki region's commuter routes, including the Ring Rail Line linking the capital with the airport.
