Series 6000 appeared in 1972. It has a 20 m body, which is 2 m longer than older Keio trains. Compared with Series 5000, Series 6000 has a simpler body design, with a flat windshield, square windows, and straight sides to reduce costs. A total of 304 cars were built, but about half had already been withdrawn by 2009.
