東北・高崎線で使用されていた211系1000番台は、E231系の投入により一部が余剰になり、房総地区に転用されました。房総地区の113系は、スカ色と呼ばれる、クリームと青の塗りわけでしたが、211系には E257系500番台に類似した、青と黄色の帯色が採用されました。5 連 14 本が在籍し、113系や209系とともに活躍しています。
Some Series 211-1000 trains used on the Tohoku and Takasaki Lines became surplus after the introduction of Series E231 and were transferred to the Boso area. Whereas the area's Series 113 trains carried the cream-and-blue scheme known as Sukairo, Series 211 received blue-and-yellow stripes resembling Series E257-500. Fourteen five-car sets are based there and work alongside Series 113 and Series 209.
