山形新幹線「つばさ」は1999年に山形から新庄まで延伸されたため、400系に加えてE3系1000番台の編成が導入されました。「こまち」のピンクの帯に対して、こちらは緑の帯です。2008年から2010年にかけて、全ての400系がE3系2000番台へ置き換えられました。E2系・E4系と連結することができます。
Yamagata Shinkansen ('Tsubasa') was extended from Yamagata to Shinjo in 1999, so some E3-1000 trainsets were added to series 400. Their color have green-belt, compared with pink belt of 'Komachi'. From 2008 to 2010, all the EMU 400 were replaced by E3-2000. They can be coupled with E2 and E4.
