6500系は1984年から営業運転に入り、国鉄117系に似た車体を持ちます。6000系より少し大きな座席とチョッパ制御を備えています。当初は扉の上半分が白でしたが、現在は車体全体が赤く塗られています。6000系・6800系と連結して使われます。
Series 6500, in service since 1984, has a similar body to JNR 117. They have a little larger seats than series 6000 and chopper control system. At first, the top-half of the doors were white, but now all the body is painted in red. They is merged with series 6000 and 6800.
