Series 3700 were introduces in 1996. Comparing to series 3500, they have a larger section and more seats. Series 3100 are the first 2-car-trainset in the inverter group (series 3X00). They are used in both main lines and branch lines. Series 3700 and 3100 are the last steal body commuter trains.名鉄3700系は、3500系の増備車として1996年に登場しました。車体が大型化され、車体断面がフラットになったのが特徴です。座席もロングシートながら少し増加しました。3100系は VVVF 車で初めての2連車で、支線区直通や本線特急・急行の増結用として多用されています。名鉄最後の、赤い鋼製通勤車でもあります。
