京都市営地下鉄烏丸線は1981年に開業し、京都駅を通って京都市を南北に結びます。開業用10系は1980年から製造され、当初4両編成でしたが、竹田延伸と近鉄直通に合わせて6両化されました。架線集電の大型車が近鉄京都線にも直通する都市鉄道です。
Kyoto's Karasuma Subway Line opened in 1981, running north–south through Kyoto Station. Its original Series 10 was built from 1980 in four-car formations, later lengthened to six cars for the Takeda extension and Kintetsu through running. Full-sized overhead-powered trains also operate onto the Kintetsu Kyoto Line.
