近鉄7000系は1984年から製造され、1986年の東大阪線開業時に営業運転を始めました。地下鉄中央線直通のため750 Vの第三軌条集電を採用した、鋼製車体・VVVF制御の6両編成です。後のけいはんな線でも使われ、架線集電の近鉄一般車とは方式が大きく異なります。
Kintetsu Series 7000 was built from 1984 and entered service when the Higashi-Osaka Line opened in 1986. Its six-car trainsets combine steel bodies and VVVF inverter control with 750 V third-rail collection for through services onto the Chuo Subway Line. Later used on the Keihanna Line, it differs substantially from Kintetsu's overhead-powered conventional trains.
