Keihan Series 700 was introduced in 1992 as an air-conditioned Otsu Line design, reusing bodies from older Series 350, 500 and related cars. Rounded fronts and regenerative braking characterized its two-car formations. It initially also worked the Keishin Line, but has been assigned to the Ishiyama-Sakamoto Line since 1997.
