国鉄201系は1979年に試作され、1981年から量産されたチョッパ制御の通勤電車です。京阪神の普通電車から転用された車両はオレンジ色に塗り替えられ、大阪環状線の8両編成として使われました。103系に代わって環状運転の主力となった時代を記録しています。
JNR Series 201 began with a prototype in 1979 and production from 1981, using chopper control. Cars transferred from Kyoto–Osaka–Kobe local duties were repainted orange for eight-car Osaka Loop Line formations. The photographs record the period when they succeeded Series 103 as the main fleet for loop services.
