国鉄201系は1979年の試作車を経て1981年から量産された4扉通勤電車です。関西本線の大和路線へ転用された車両は黄緑色の6両編成となり、普通列車に使われました。チョッパ制御と回生ブレーキを備え、同じ線区の103系とは前面や機器が異なります。
JNR Series 201 followed a 1979 prototype with production from 1981 as a four-door commuter design. Cars transferred to the Yamatoji section of the Kansai Main Line formed light-green six-car sets for local services. Chopper control, regenerative braking and a different front design distinguished them from Series 103 on the same route.
