7890形は、3801-3901 形として製造されました。4 連3本が製造されましたが、一編成は脱線が相次いだため廃車、残った 2 本を 6 連 1 本と 2 連 1 本に組み替え、本線用の 8801系と武庫川線専用の7891形が生まれました。8801系は2009年に廃車されてしまいましたが、7890系はしばらく活躍すると思われます。
Hanshin Type 7890 was originally built as Types 3801 and 3901. Three four-car trainsets were built, but one was scrapped after repeated derailments. The remaining two were rearranged into one six-car trainset and one two-car trainset, creating Series 8801 for the main line and Type 7891 exclusively for the Mukogawa Line. Series 8801 was scrapped in 2009, but Series 7890 is expected to remain active for a while.
