阪神7861・7961形は1966～1968年に製造された急行系車両で、昇圧後も単独で使える2両編成として設計されました。電動車7861形と制御付随車7961形を組み合わせ、赤胴車の塗装で本線系統に使われました。後にはワンマン化され、武庫川線の短編成運用を担いました。
Hanshin Series 7861 and 7961 was built in 1966–1968 as two-car express formations that could operate independently after the voltage increase. Motor cars of Series 7861 were paired with Series 7961 driving trailers in the red-and-cream livery. Later conversion for one-person operation gave them a second role on the Mukogawa Line.
