Series 8090, introduced in 1980, has a lightweight stainless-steel body. Compared with earlier stainless-steel rolling stock, it has fewer corrugations and a cleaner exterior. Series 8590 is almost the same as Series 8090, but has a front gangway door. The trains were first used on the Toyoko Line, but later moved mainly to the Oimachi Line.
