2代目7000系は、7700系・7600系・1000系を置き換えるため、2008年に登場しました。5000系を基本とし、より短い18 m車体と丸みのある前面デザインを持ちます。車内は木目調のパネルを使い、一部の座席はクロスシートです。当時は45両（15編成）が計画されていました。
Series 7000 (II) was introduced in 2008 to replace Series 7700, 7600, and 1000 trains. Based on Series 5000, it has a shorter 18 m body and a rounded front design. The interior uses wood-grain panels, and some seats is transverse seats. At the time, 45 cars (15 trainsets) were planned.
