西武新2000系は、片側4扉の通勤電車として1988年から製造されました。2000系との主な違いは、前面デザインと側面窓の形です。普通列車と優等列車向けに合計334両が製造されました。一部は30000系に似た内装へ更新されています。
Seibu Series N2000 was built from 1988 as a commuter train with four doors per side. The main differences from Series 2000 is the front design and side window style. A total of 334 cars were built for local and express services. Some have been refurbished with interiors similar to those of Series 30000.
