南北線は1991年に最初の区間が開業し、2000年に目黒と赤羽岩淵を結ぶ全線が完成した地下鉄です。東京の鉄道網に比較的遅く加わった路線で、深い位置に造られた地下駅が多いことも特徴です。
The Namboku Line opened its first section in 1991 and completed the route between Meguro and Akabane-Iwabuchi in 2000. A relatively late addition to Tokyo's railway network, it is characterized by its many deep underground stations.
