03系は1988年から導入されました。回り込む形の前面窓と5扉車が特徴です。それ以前の3000系が無塗装のステンレス車体だったのに対し、03系は黒と銀の帯を配したアルミ車体です。42編成、336両が中目黒と北千住の間で運用されました。
EMU Series 03 was introduced from 1988. The distinctive features are the wrap-around front window and five-door cars. While the earlier EMU 3000 had an unpainted stainless body, Series 03 uses an aluminum body with black and silver stripes. Forty-two trainsets (336 cars) operated between Naka-meguro and Kita-senju.
