JR西日本683系は交流・直流の電化区間をまたいで運転できる特急形電車です。「しらさぎ」用の車両には青とオレンジの帯があり、JR東海の路線へ乗り入れて名古屋方面と北陸を結びました。
JR West Series 683 is a limited express train type capable of operating on both AC and DC electrified routes. Shirasagi trains carried blue and orange stripes and ran onto JR Central lines to connect the Nagoya area with Hokuriku.
