福知山線で大阪から1時間、京都からも一時間で到達する福知山は、京都府の城下町です。福知山線に続き山陰線も電化されました。183系800番台 (交直流の485系から交流機器を撤去)・113系3800番台(低コストで先頭車化改造)・キハ41気動車(同じく先頭車化)など、ユニークな車両が多く走っています。
Fukuchiyama is a castle town in Kyoto Prefecture, reached in an hour from Osaka on the Fukuchiyama Line and also in an hour from Kyoto. Following the Fukuchiyama Line, the Sanin Line was electrified too. Many distinctive trains operate here, including Series 183-800, created by removing the AC equipment from dual-voltage Series 485 cars; Series 113-3800, converted into cab cars at low cost; and KiHa 41 diesel cars, likewise fitted with additional driving cabs.
