The Kakogawa Line was also electrified in December 2004, when electric trains began running. Two-car Series 103-3550 trainsets operate between Kakogawa and Nishiwakishi, while Series 127 is mainly used between Nishiwakishi and Tanikawa. Series 127 is a double-ended car based on Series 223, with a distinctive body whose central door opening is closed off. Although these cars were built after the Obama Line cars had been converted to 2+2 transverse seating at local expense, they retain the original 2+1 transverse seating. The running equipment also shares many features with Series 223, but the inverter is made by Toyo Denki. (Photographs from before electrification are here.
