Series 9000 was built in 1996 to replace cars lost in the Hanshin Earthquake. It was the first stainless-steel type with a black front end. Since 2009, the series runs through the Hanshin Namba Line to the Kintetsu Nara Line. It can be coupled with Series 1000 and is mainly used in rapid express services.
