阪神2000系は、1970～1973年製の7001・7101形や7801・7901形の一部を1990～1993年に更新して成立した系列です。6両固定編成化と界磁添加励磁制御への変更を受け、阪神本線の急行・特急などで使われました。新製車ではなく既存車の更新系列で、2011年までに運用を終えました。
Hanshin Series 2000 was created in 1990–1993 by rebuilding selected Series 7001/7101 and 7801/7901 cars originally built in 1970–1973. They became fixed six-car formations with field-added excitation control for Main Line express and limited-express duties. This was a rebuilt fleet rather than a new-build series, and service ended by 2011.
