Hankyu Series 6300 entered service in 1975 as a Kyoto Line limited-express design. Two doors positioned near the ends of each car, reversible transverse seating and a white band near the roof distinguished it from commuter trains. It worked Umeda–Kyoto limited expresses for many years, and some trainsets were rebuilt as four-car sets for the Arashiyama Line from 2009.
