キハ181系は非電化の山岳路線向けに開発された、国鉄の特急形気動車です。強力なエンジンを備え、山陰方面の「やくも」や「はまかぜ」などで活躍しました。
JNR KiHa Series 181 was developed for limited express services on non-electrified mountain routes. Its powerful engines suited services towards the Sanin region, including Yakumo and Hamakaze.
