都営12-000形は1991年に大江戸線の最初の開業区間で営業運転を開始しました。量産車は小型のアルミ車体とリニアモーター駆動を採用しています。初期の営業車は6両編成でしたが、のちに8両編成となりました。
Toei Series 12-000 entered service on the first section of the Oedo Line in 1991. Production trains used compact aluminium bodies and linear-motor propulsion. The first passenger trains had six cars, later lengthened to eight.
